Belts

It should be possible to achieve a Black Belt within a two year period of training (depending on regular attendance and demonstration of capability).

Grading system

  • Gradings will be held every three months –  dates to be published on website
  • Students will be invited to participate in a grading
  • During training the instructors will be observing your progress and assessing your readiness for grading
  • At each grading, students will be required to demonstrate knowledge of all the previous techniques they have learned
  • This ensures that students continue to build on their knowledge
  • In addition, this method “trains the trainer” by encouraging students to assist lower grades as they progress (as they need to demonstrate previous grade techniques)
  • The cost of a grading is £20 payable on the day of the grading

Licences

  • All students of Martial Arts require a licence. This provides you with insurance cover against injury to yourself or other students.
  • Licences are also your passport to grade, without an up to date licence you will not be allowed to grade.
  • Your licence has to be renewed each year, your instructor will remind of this and supply you with renewal forms.
  • When you apply for your licence you will be issued with a licence book containing space for licence and sections for your grading record.
  • Licences are available through the Chief Instructor and cost £30 per annum.
